They are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the corporate accounting team in their Toronto head office, reporting to the Manager of Corporate Reporting. You will be an important part of a growing team of accounting professionals, many of whom worked in the \xe2\x80\x9cBig 4\xe2\x80\x9d firms before joining. This role requires a dynamic, professional, energetic, and highly motivated individual who can join the team in a senior capacity with growth opportunities. The start date is immediate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review the accounting and multi-family portfolio performance on a monthly basis including tracking of contributions/distributions and cash management
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and other financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Improve and document month-end procedures and workbooks to enhance the accuracy of financial reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and MD&A
  • Review and post bank and other journal entries
  • Assist in the internal and external valuation process
  • Assist with special and ad HOC projects as necessary, including acquisitions/dispositions of properties
  • Prepare accounting memos to determine appropriate accounting treatment under IFRS and other accounting standards, as necessary
  • Co-ordinate with internal teams
Education, Experience and Skills
  • Must be a CPA or on track to become a CPA
  • 3+ years of industry or firm experience (Big 4 preferred)
  • Residential real estate experience preferred
  • Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • A self-starter who is able to work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with good work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
