We are searching for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity

By providing financial statement review and analysis and financial support to the Retirement Living, Enhanced Care and Corporate divisions, you will:
  • Assist with the on time and on quality preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow
  • Reconcile corporate general ledger accounts. Investigate reconciling items and work with cross functional teams to understand the business, ensuring appropriate accounting for transactions in compliance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of the annual audited financial statements
  • Liaise with auditors during the course of the audits to ensure their queries are addressed.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variances analysis
  • Recommend and implement ideas for process improvement, efficiency and performance.
  • Prepare financial reports, charts, tables, power point presentations and other exhibits as requested; Respond to ad-hoc projects related to business growth etc.
  • Provide accounting and back up support for broader accounting team, including review of reconciliations.
  • Supports month end reporting by delivering complete accounting for all assigned accounts and related financial reports
About You

In addition to having a strong attention to detail, and placing high value on accuracy, efficiency, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
  • A bachelor\'s degree in accounting or Finance and have CPA designation, or are near completion of the related CPA program
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years\' experience in an accounting role, preferably in public practice setting, or similar corporate role
  • Strong computer literacy including advanced working skills in Microsoft Office
  • Thorough technical knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience with Yardi software would be considered an asset
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
