Job Description



The Senior Accountant responsibilities include performing complex accounting needs for the Company and overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying the company\'s financial transactions and preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the accounting functions associated with general ledger and sub-ledger maintenance, including account reconciliations, journal entries and transactional analysis
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly financial statements and prepares certain month-end journal entries, such as the weekly payroll expense, intangible amortization, depreciation expense, and prepaid amortization.
  • Performs a flux analysis and documents explanations for significant variances between actual and budgeted amounts.
  • Prepares the bank reconciliations for all bank accounts and records cash transactions in the database.
  • Assists with collections by calling customers and providing support for unpaid invoices.
  • Provides accounting assistance to all departments, including backup to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, as needed.
  • Investigates discrepancies and other areas of concern regarding financial information and recommends corrective actions.
  • Reviewing monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Completing month-end amortization and prepaid schedules
  • Reconciling various accounts and preparing schedules
  • Assisting Payroll with report preparations, reconciliations, and providing backup support
  • Works on special accounting projects as assigned.
  • Provides functional backup for other finance functions as assigned.
  • Possesses strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Capable of working both independently and in teams, as needed.
  • Willingly provides insight, suggestions, and methods to better the company.
  • Proactively take on other tasks, as needed.
  • Complete tasks accurately and on time.

  • Bachelor\'s degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
  • Ability to build rapport and collaborate with others within the company and externally
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-driven environment
Physical Demands: Approximately 90% of duties performed are in a seated position. The employee must reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
