Job Description

JOB PURPOSE



The primary purpose of the Security Worker and Driver position is to ensure the safety and security of people, property, and assets while also providing reliable transportation services. This dual-role position combines security duties with driving responsibilities to maintain a secure environment and facilitate the efficient movement of passengers or goods.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS



Duties and Responsibilities



Monitoring and Patrolling

: Regularly patrol premises to ensure a safe environment and observe for signs of crime or disorder.

Access Control

: Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates.

Incident Response

: Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances promptly.

Transporting Passengers or Goods

: Safely transport passengers or goods to their destinations.

Vehicle Maintenance

: Perform routine checks and maintenance on the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.

Route Planning

: Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries or pickups.

Loading and Unloading

: Assist with loading and unloading goods, if applicable.

Reporting

: Document observations and incidents, and prepare detailed reports on any security incidents and daily activities.

Customer Service

: Provide excellent customer service, ensuring passengers or clients are satisfied with the service.

Emergency Assistance

: Cooperate with emergency services and provide assistance during incidents like fire, medical emergencies, or hazardous situations.

Compliance

: Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.

Relationship and Team Building:



Work collaboratively and cooperatively at all levels in order to support the company, their employees and clients.

Cultural Competency



Participate in cultural activities within the organization.

Follow the Seven Grandfather teachings as it relates to the position in line with the vision and mission of the CHDI; Actively attend and participate in cultural training and/or activities provided by the First Nation; Ensure appropriate cultural opening when attending the CHDI team, clients, families, communities and other collaterals; Actively seek guidance from appropriate staff about how to incorporate culture into the position or how to work from a cultural perspective;

Administration and Reporting:



Complete administrative functions and reports, and adhere to Agency policies, procedures, and relevant practices.

Ensure submissions of reports are completed and reviewed; Prepare reports, statistics, briefing notes and correspondence as required; Develop and maintain an individual detailed work plan of activities; Ensure confidentiality and safekeeping of all CHDI documents and records; Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date and concise work files; Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Actand any other relevant legislation; Prepare and submit monthly reports and travel expense claims and maintain attendance records; Follow CHDI human resources, finance and other policies and procedures in the performance of duties.

Other Duties



Act in accordance with agency Code of Ethics and maintain confidentiality at all times to protect the privacy of Agency staff, families and communities; Participate in internal or external committees as required or assigned; Perform additional related duties in accordance with job responsibilities and CHDI objectives; Participate in training, cultural events and other mandatory training as required; Other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications Training & Experience



Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a related field or equivalent Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work with little or no supervision Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, language, and healing practices or willingness to learn Excellent communication and motivational skills to effectively maintain solution-focused dialogue Ability to develop collaborative relationships with families, service providers, and stakeholders Knowledge of the unique needs of First Nations, or the willingness to learn Experience working with Indigenous families to support and advocate for families in need of services Clear Driver's Abstract, ability to drive, and a reliable vehicle Maintenance of an ongoing clear Police Vulnerable Sector Screening Check Valid Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR, Ability to travel and to work flexible hours to the needs of clients and their families.
Knowledge Requirements

Knowledge of First Nation communities and structures Knowledge of local services available to children and families Knowledge and understanding of The Child and Family Services Act,*
Knowledge, understanding, respect and sensitivity of Cree culture, traditions, and the Seven Grandfather Teachings

Valid Driver's License

: Must have a valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven.

: Proficiency in monitoring security systems and surveillance equipment.

Physical Fitness

: Ability to perform physical tasks such as patrolling, responding to incidents, and handling loading/unloading goods.

: Skills to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.

Time Management

: Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

Other Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:



Previous work experience in security and driving.

Security Screening:



A satisfactory criminal record check (CPIC) and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work. Additionally, all employees have an ongoing duty to disclose any charges or convictions that may occur during their employment Must have a Class '5' Saskatchewan Driver's License, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel

WORK SITE LOCATION



This position will be located primarily in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan.

TECHNOLOGY & EQUIPMENT



Cars, telephone, GPS and cell phones.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY



This position is not required to supervise staff.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS



Internal

The position requires interaction with the Chief Executive Officer, Office Manager and Co-workers.

External

The Security Worker and Driver will interact with First Nation staff, community members and other agencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00-$26.52 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
