Security Specialist
Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, IT Security & Networking, the Security Specialist develops, evaluates and manages systems security across the enterprise. Areas of concentration include security infrastructure management, password auditing, network based and Web application-based vulnerability scanning, virus management and intrusion detection. They assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures (e.g., user log-on and authentication rules, security breach escalation procedures, security auditing procedures and use of firewalls and encryption routines). They prepare status reports on security matters to develop security risk analysis scenarios and response procedures. The Security Specialist enforces security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring security profiles, reviewing security violation reports, investigating possible security exceptions, updates, and they maintain and document security controls. They utilize their knowledge to educate users on systems security standards and procedures.
