Security Officer

Center Manager

Position Summary:

The Security Officer ensures the safety and protection of all individuals, property, and assets within the community center. This position plays a key role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and participants, in accordance with the center's values and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to ensure safety and order. Conduct regular patrols inside and around the premises to identify and prevent potential safety risks or disturbances. Enforce the center's security policies, procedures, and code of conduct. Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies and report them according to established protocols. Maintain accurate and detailed incident and activity reports. Control access to restricted areas and verify identification when required. Support staff during events by managing crowd control, parking, and entry flow. Monitor security systems (cameras, alarms) and report any malfunctions to the supervisor. Liaise with emergency services (police, fire, medical) when necessary. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times. Provide courteous assistance to visitors and promote a respectful and safe environment.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in security or law enforcement is an asset). Valid security guard license or certification (as required by provincial regulations). Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a public or community facility. Strong observational and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or emergency situations. Basic first aid and CPR certification (preferred). Physical ability to perform regular patrols and respond to emergencies. Demonstrated reliability, integrity, and professionalism.

Work Conditions:
