Security Officers
to join the team at the
kakisiwew-ochapowace Stabilization Centre.
The Security Officer ensures the safety and security of clients, staff, visitors, and property through respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally safe approaches. This position contributes to a healing environment that protects people and spaces while supporting ceremony, land-based activities, and wellness programs rooted in nehiyaw teachings.
What You Will Do:
Reporting to the Stabilization Centre Manager, the Security Officer helps create a safe, respectful, and healing environment for all who enter the Centre. Guided by nehiyaw values of wicihitowin (helping one another) and wahkohtowin (kinship), the Officer ensures the safety of clients, staff, and visitors. The Officer conducts regular patrols of the facility and surrounding grounds, monitors entry points and surveillance systems, and responds promptly to emergencies or safety concerns. They assist with de-escalation, safety planning, and wellness checks in a way that honours privacy, dignity, and cultural protocol. The Officer documents and reports incidents clearly and respectfully, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Working closely with Peacekeepers, clinical and cultural staff, and community partners, the Security Officer contributes to the overall balance, safety, and wellbeing of the Stabilization Centre and those it serves.

You bring:
High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary training in security, public safety, or justice is an asset.
Minimum one year of security or public-safety experience;
Experience in working in a health, treatment, or community settings is an asset.
Current provincial security guard licence or ability to obtain promptly.
Experience working with First Nations or Indigenous communities is preferred.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, non-violent crisis intervention, and cultural safety.
Familiarity with basic emergency response, First Aid/CPR, fire safety, and naloxone use.
Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to document incidents accurately and objectively.
Strong observation, situational awareness, and calm de-escalation abilities.
Team-oriented, dependable, and culturally grounded in nehiyaw teachings and protocols.
Conditions of Employment:
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
Current First Aid/CPR, NVCI/CPI (or willingness to obtain promptly), and naloxone training.
Must be willing to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Adherence to kakisiwew-ochapowace HR policies, Code of Conduct, and Confidentiality Agreement.
Must successfully complete drug and alcohol testing prior to employment and comply with Nation substance use policies.
