Site Description: Milton District Hospital (MDH) is a community hospital located in Milton, Ontario, and is part of Halton Healthcare. It provides a range of healthcare services, including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient services, diagnostic imaging, surgical procedures, and maternal and child care. The hospital underwent a major expansion in 2017, significantly increasing its capacity and facilities to better serve the growing population of Milton and surrounding areas. MDH is known for its patient-centered care and commitment to quality healthcare services.
Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Milton District Hospital

Hours: Rotating Continental (0700-1900/ 1900-0700 hrs.)
Pay Rate: $19.19/hr.- $20.69/hr. "based on levelling system"
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Job Skills / Requirements
Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Requirements: * A Valid Ontario Security Guard License

• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services would be an asset
• Minimum 1 year of security experience in a healthcare environment
• Proof of double Covid Vaccination
• Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests 1 and 2)
• Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
• Able to work in outdoor weather conditions for long periods
• Authorized to legally work in Canada
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)

• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB Pre-employment certification training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB Pre-employment certification training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite, however Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6 month commitment to the position/availability
