Role Summary:
Our
Victoria, BC branch
is looking for Security Alarm Technician (Commercial Technician) to perform high quality security service work, installations, renovations and programming for our commercial customers while also providing superior customer service throughout BC and the Yukon. The right candidate would be based out of our Victoria branch office location at 555 Ardersier Street, Victoria, BC.
This is a unionized position, and the successful candidate must be eligible to join the Local IBEW 213 Union.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate, install and program systems (alarm, access control and CCTV) as per the customer's specifications
Perform Service work, ULC Inspections, Installations, Verification duties as assigned by the Coordinator
Coordinate with Sales Representatives and Security Coordinators
Work to meet project estimation and deadlines
Flexibility to work different shifts as required
Frequent out of town travel is a requirement of the role
Stay up to date on current alarm technology.
Networking and programming as required.
Coordinate, install, service and program systems (alarm, access control, intercom and CCTV) as per the customer's specifications while following industry regulations
Communicate with customers to identify the source of the problem of their alarm system.
Independently perform high quality service, proper maintenance and make recommendations for improvement to the system if needed.
Conduct testing on alarm systems to ensure that the service provided was successful.
Inform customers on how to operate and use their alarm system in a takeover situation. In addition, educate the customers on basic knowledge of alarm system utilization.
Work to meet all installation and service call deadlines
Must be able to complete out of town work (including overnight stays), oncall work and overtime as required
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Trades Qualification - Security Alarms
Computer and network knowledge to set up systems
Basic understanding of electrical code and requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience within a similar role
A valid Canadian driver's license with a clean record
A valid provincial Security Alarm Installer license issued from the government of BC
Excellent working knowledge of Access Control, Alarms and CCTV systems
