We are seeking a dedicated Second Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Second Cook works twelve hours per day for fourteen (14) consecutive days, followed by fourteen (14) consecutive days of rest.
Duties
Assists Chef in meal preparation.
Restocks and replenishes food items when necessary.
Notifies chef when items run low so another product can be refilled.
Assists with prep for the next day as assigned.
Assists with putting away the food truck delivery.
Keeps work areas clean and sanitized.
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances.
Delivers meals to designated sites in Sioux Lookout
Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
Work with other team members to ensure that all food preparation is completed on time.
Other duties assigned by the Manager or Chef on duty
Employment Requirements
Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and food handling practices is essential.
Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in food preparation.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
Safe Food Handling Level 1; and Basic WHMIS.* Ability to lift 50 pounds.* The ability to communicate successfully.
Excellent teamwork and strong customer service skills.
Cross-cultural awareness of the Nishnawbe-Aski (Treat 9) first nations.
