Reporting to the Site Manager, the Assistant Site Manager is responsible for assisting with the safe and successful site operation, stepping up to act in the absence of the Site Manager, helping manage the site team, promoting a safe and positive work environment, leading on feeding, and inspection of fish, maintaining reliable data records and all general tasks. The Assistant Site Manager leads a team of one or more Aquaculture Technicians.

Key Responsibilities
Promote workplace health and safety and uphold biosecurity standards, including the use of biosecurity products and integrity of circle pen rigging.
Oversee operational activities such as capstan and crane use, net inspections and changes, and large vessel docking.
Manage feed-related processes including delivery, storage, sampling, feeding practices, and administration of medicated feed and treatments.
Support fish health and production through health sampling, weight sampling, transfers, and harvest planning and implementation.
Coordinate smolt stocking inventory and support escape prevention, predator avoidance strategies, and recycling procedures.
Conduct daily system inspections, liaise with feeders, and monitor plankton levels, including response planning and maintaining plankton readiness timelines.
Collaborate with the production team to maintain high standards across all operational areas.
Train, develop, mentor and coach junior team members.
Ensure full adherence to and compliance with all procedures and policies established by the Grieg Seafood group of companies.
Understand and adhere to government regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Workplace NL and Company biosecurity rules and practices.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Supports leadership by assisting in team supervision, training, oversight, and mentoring of daily operations
Ability to solve problems and multi-task.
Well-developed interpersonal skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Computer proficiency.
Must be comfortable working on and around water, sometimes in challenging sea conditions.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Training, Education, and Experience
Diploma or Degree in Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources or Fisheries Resources Management would be an asset.
At least three years' recent hands-on Aquaculture experience.
Supervisory training and experience, and a commitment to safe work practices.
Proven time management abilities along with decision making and analytical skills.
Well-developed computer skills including MS Word.
Work Site Conditions and Expectations
Position Location: Sea Sites, Placentia Bay, NL.
Working Conditions: Outdoors. Wet/damp outdoor environment.
Work Schedule: Rotational schedule: 8 days on, 6 days off. 40-hour work week.
Schedule Requirements: Overtime may be requested.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift to 50lbs., standing, walking, kneeling, couching.
Travel Requirements: To and from assigned sea-sites.
