Almost all returns are completed in person or via drop-off, and we pride ourselves on offering a smooth and organized tax season experience.
Job Overview:
We are hiring three Seasonal Tax Preparers for the upcoming tax season: one full-time and two part-time. The season runs from February 1 to April 30. Applicants must have prior experience preparing Canadian personal tax returns. We can train you on our software (TaxCycle), but we cannot train beginners this close to the season.
This role is ideal for experienced preparers, semi-retired individuals, or anyone looking for consistent seasonal winter work.
Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate T1 personal tax returns using TaxCycle
Meet directly with clients (majority of work is face-to-face)
Review tax slips, documents, and financial information
Identify missing information and communicate with clients as needed
Apply tax rules for employment, RRSPs, childcare, deductions, and credits
If experienced, prepare rental income (T776), small business income, capital gains, and other additional schedules
Use CRA tools such as Represent a Client, MyAccount, and Auto-fill My Return (training available)
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy at all times
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-2 prior tax seasons preparing Canadian personal tax returns
Strong accuracy and attention to detail
Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced office
Experience with any tax software (TaxCycle experience an asset)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Proof of prior tax preparation experience is required
Assets (may increase pay rate):
Experience with rental income returns
Experience with small business/sole proprietor returns
Experience with capital gains or investment filing
Familiarity with CRA portals (RAC, MyAccount, MyBusiness Account)
Schedule:
Full-time: 40 hours per week
Part-time: 25-30 hours per week
Evenings required during peak season
Part-time employees must be available Saturdays (Sundays closed)
Full-time weekend availability preferred
Stat holidays are optional (employees may take them off)
Must be available for the full season until April 30 to qualify for the bonus
