Job Description

The Town of Coaldale is looking for positive, enthusiastic individuals to join their Public Works and Utilities teams. Reporting to the Public Works or Utilities Foreman, the Seasonal Labourers will assist the Foreman in the operation and maintenance of Town infrastructure.

Term: May- August

Wage: $18.22-$18.97

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Operate and maintain equipment used by the Town pertaining to the maintenance and repairing of roads, alleys, curbs and sidewalks, including forming and pouring concrete.
• Filling in potholes and sidewalk cracks, painting lines on roads and curbs, as well as storm sewer and street drainage maintenance
• Culvert and ditch maintenance
• Assists with waste pickup and shop yard maintenance
• Assists with opening and closing of burial plots
• Maintain and replace road signs
• Maintain weed control through mowing and weed whipping
• Complete daily time log of activities

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment and tools; as well as working behind equipment such as a jack hammer and tamper
• Valid Class 5 driver's license (drivers abstract will be required for preferred candidates)
• Operator experience with Loaders, Tandem Dump Trucks, Tractor's, Skid Steers and Back Hoe's or any other heavy equipment is not required but would be considered an asset
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

• Ensure all operations are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with the Town of Coaldale policies, as well as the law as set forth by Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Contract length: 5 months

Pay: $18.22-$18.97 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
