Seasonal Field Assistant (April 15 2025 - October 15 2025)

: Saskatoon, SK (with daily travel surrounding the Saskatoon area)

Reports to

: Research Field Manager

Verve/HGI is looking for a seasonal Field Assistant to join our team from April 15 2025 (flexible) to October 15 (flexible) 2025. This position offers a dynamic work environment with hands-on experience in agricultural research. As part of the team, you will contribute to the establishment, maintenance, and harvest of small plot yield trials and grow outs. Daily tasks will vary and include working outdoors and collaborating with team members to ensure the success of ongoing research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

? Calibrate and maintain equipment used in field operations.

? Clean seeds, apply seed treatments, and prepare seeding envelopes.

? Seed small plot trials and assist with the general maintenance of trial sites.

? Operate small plot field equipment such as tractors and tillage tools.

? Drive a truck and trailer for equipment transportation and hauling water between field sites.

? Record accurate and precise agronomic notes during fieldwork.

? Provide assistance to the Field Manager and plant breeder with other related duties as needed.

? Weekend work may be required during peak seasons (seeding/harvest).

Qualifications and Skills:

? Valid Class 5 driver's license with or willing to obtain G Endorsement.

? Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and coordination.

? Punctual, reliable, and capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.

? Detail-oriented with a commitment to achieving consistent, high-quality results.

? Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, both individually and within a team.

? Previous experience with small plot field trials, agriculture, or farm work is an asset but not required.
