The Department
This position is in the Facilities - Maintenance and Operations Department (FMO), which strives to provide safe, functional, and attractive facilities for student, staff, and community use. NWP takes pride in respecting and preserving its buildings and grounds, and this is reflected in the prompt and dedicated service provided by its Facilities - Maintenance and Operations team.
The Role
Northwestern Polytechnic is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Seasonal Equipment Operator to support winter operations across campus. This role is responsible for operating heavy equipment to ensure safe and accessible parking lots, roadways, and pedestrian areas during snow and ice conditions.
Operate snow removal equipment including plow trucks, skid steers, loaders, and sanders.
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of assigned equipment.
Apply de-icing materials to surfaces as needed.
Monitor weather conditions and respond promptly to snow and ice events.
Spring parking lot maintenance, i.e. sweeping
Maintain clear documentation of work performed and materials used.
Collaborate with Facilities Maintenance team to prioritize areas based on safety and accessibility needs.
Experience in institutional or municipal snow clearing operations.
Knowledge of campus infrastructure and traffic flow patterns.
The position reports to the Manager, Facilities Maintenance & Operations, however typical workday direction will be received from the Service Coordinator.
This position will commence October 20, 2025, and continue to the end of April. An hourly wage of $35.00 per hour will be offered to the suitable candidate, depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Requirements
Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license
Minimum 2 years of experience operating snow removal or heavy equipment.
Familiarity with safe operating procedures in winter conditions.
Ability to work independently and in a team under variable weather conditions.
Strong communication and time management skills.
