Position Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Scrum Master / Technical Project Manager to support our internal development team while also serving as a key technical point of contact for external clients. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who excels in agile delivery, cross-functional coordination, and client-facing communication. Experience in FinTech or the financial services industry is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Scrum Master (Internal Development Team)

Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Ensure the development team adheres to Agile values, principles, and best practices. Remove impediments to team progress and proactively identify risks or blockers. Partner with Product Owners to maintain a healthy, prioritized backlog. Track and communicate team performance, velocity, and sprint metrics using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence). Foster a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, and collaboration.

Technical Project Management (Client-Facing)

Act as the technical project lead for external clients, ensuring clear communication and smooth delivery. Translate technical concepts into business-friendly language for stakeholders. Manage project timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and risks across internal and external teams. Provide regular updates, documentation, and status reports to clients and internal leadership. Support release planning and ensure client readiness for new features, integrations, or updates.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Technical Project Manager, or similar hybrid role. Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and hands-on experience running Agile ceremonies. Proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence), including custom workflows, dashboards, and reporting. Experience in release management, including planning, coordination, and communication of releases to internal and external stakeholders. Ability to manage technical discussions and work closely with engineers on features, integrations, or DevOps topics. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to navigate client relationships professionally and confidently.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in FinTech, payments, banking, or broader financial services. Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM) or equivalent Agile training. Technical background (e.g., software development, QA, or systems integration experience). Experience working with distributed or remote teams. Familiarity with compliance or regulated industry processes.

What We Offer

Opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects. Collaborative, supportive, and growth-oriented environment. Exposure to both technical development cycles and client-facing delivery. Enjoy a flexible schedule of full-time hours. As a remote-first organization, we care about the work you do, but not the place you do it. However, we prefer the candidate located near Kitchener-Waterloo area to participate company hosted events and meetings. Explore ongoing opportunities for professional development: training, conferences, and certifications. If you don't have PMP or Scum Master certificate, but desire to obtain them, we will provide the training opportunity and pay for the certification cost. Mentorship opportunity with our senior leadership about the FinTech industry and project management best practices. Experiment with new techniques, wear multiple hats and learn about new disciplines.

Performance and Growth Expectations

We emphasize accountability for outcomes, but autonomy in activities. Your work will be measured across a number of data points (peer, leader & project team feedback) and will also be measured on the basis of client and user satisfaction. Your growth path is in your hands-- you'll have ongoing meetings with your leader to help determine your path, but your progress will be based on what you hope to achieve and how you choose to access the resources available to you.
