The lab of Derrick Gibbings at the University of Ottawa is seeking candidates to fill multiple positions including lab technician, scientist, graduate student and post-doctoral fellow. The lab performs research on RNA biology, extracellular vesicles and autophagy seeking to understand mechanisms involved in diseases including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. The lab also has substantial ongoing efforts in developing novel therapeutics. The lab has a track record of success in publishing in leading international journals and obtaining competitive national and international funding from government, non-profit and industry sources.
The lab is a part of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine located at 451 Smyth Road in Ottawa.

Minimum qualifications:
B.Sc. in the life sciences, preferably with a focus on cellular or molecular biology and biochemistry
Beneficial qualifications:
It is NOT expected that any candidate will have all or any of the qualifications below.
M.Sc., Ph.D., or Post-doctoral fellowship in the life sciences
Experience working with rodent models of disease including colony management and injections
Experience with culture and differentiation of iPSC cells
Experience with the culture of primary cells such as neurons
Experience with advanced molecular biology, RNA biology, microscopy or extracellular vesicles
Salary
Competitive salaries commensurate with applicant experience will be provided. Stipends for graduate students are $25,000. Salaries for post-doctoral fellows, scientists or technicians will range from $45,000-$75,000 depending on qualifications and level of responsibilities. Flexible working hours are possible to accommodate individual circumstances with approval.
