Job Description




We are looking for a Scientist III - Oncology to join our Data Extraction Team. You will be reporting to Ava Vila-Leahey. You will work closely with R&D Scientists, ML Engineers, and Data Engineers to apply your scientific research knowledge to lead development, auditing, and improvement of our ML models and data pipelines and come up with new ideas to advance our technology.
We are welcoming applicants from Canada, the US and the UK for this position.

You Will:

    • Improve strategy and development of new ways to apply our ML technology to expand data generation
    • Be a project lead on data audits of ML models and data pipelines to identify deficiencies and propose next steps to improve overall data collection, including support customer projects and researching data relevant to the customer.
    • Independently conduct research and provide creative solutions to improve use case data collection for oncology compiling them into a report, and attending client-facing meetings.
    • Independently identify and define main challenges for solutioning to satisfy product requirements outlined by the Product team
    • Be the project lead on several projects working to improve the quality of our data within oncology
    • Collaborate in knowledge sharing projects and developing relationships with multiple partners
    • Keep up with current biomedical research to guide technology development
    • Participate in the onboarding of junior R&D Scientists and share feedback and expertise with peers to support learning and improvement


You Have:

    • Experience in molecular biology, microbiology and bioinformatic databases within drug discovery and drug development
    • PhD or MSc 3+ years of relevant bench experience in life sciences (e.g. Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Preclinical research)
    • Solve open-ended tasks and develop data-driven solutions to novel problems
    • Ability to pivot and act on process improvements
    • Project management skills, including, staying organized, managing time effectively, delegation skills and clear understanding of team goals
    • Support work across different teams and be an effective team member
    • Organisation, time-management, and with both attention to detail and clear understanding of team goals
    • Experience using SQL and Excel functions to access, extract, and assess data from databases
