What you will do

Let\xe2\x80\x99s do this. Let\xe2\x80\x99s change the world. In this vital role you will join our affinity team in In Vitro Pharmacology group to discover novel therapeutic antibodies.

Our small team specializes in designing and conducting both high throughput and smaller, custom biophysical screening assays to rank and characterize both discovery and later stage large molecule therapeutic programs. The individual will join a team of dedicated scientists to discover and characterize molecules that have the potential to help patients in need. A well-suited applicant will have great laboratory skills, a strong analytical mindset, deep scientific curiosity, and a can-do attitude. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, optimization, and implementation of various biophysical based screening assays for novel therapeutic candidates with guidance from the lead Scientist.

This is a permanent role that offers potential for advancement and career development. Successful candidates must reside in the Greater Vancouver area.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct both routine and novel affinity/kinetic characterization screens on all relevant platforms (Carterra, Octet, Biacore), including custom assays (reagent QC, R/L, chain bins, epitope bins) and help develop new methods
  • Instrument housekeeping like regular desorbs, needle/injector block/slide cleans, etc.
  • Support with quants when the primary quant role is away (
20% of time) * Data summarizing and reporting using various internal platforms (ELN, Screener, HTB/Benchling, slide decks for internal review)

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree & 3 years of related experience

OR

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree & 5 years of directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of molecular binding interaction theory (SPR, BLI) and associated fitting models
  • Firsthand experience with various SPR platforms and the associated instrumentation nuances \xe2\x80\x93 specifically Biacore (any model, but 3000 experience is desirable)
  • A good understanding of protein chemistry and/or a general biochemistry background; antibody specific experience desired
  • A keen eye and a strong analytical mindset, with an interest and aptitude for DoE tasks like assay development and /or troubleshooting
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in the face of shifting priorities
