Scientific Specialist
Food Residue
1 Full Time Permanent Position Available


The Scientist Specialist is responsible for participating in all technical aspects relating, primarily to, LC analysis, including staff training and development; method development, validation and optimization; method transfer to new instrumentation and spearheading projects within Food Residue


The Key Accountabilities of the role are:

  • Manage method development/validation and other projects to ensure timely completion, including literature review and project wrap-up
  • Develop and revise relevant SOP\xe2\x80\x99s, WI\xe2\x80\x99s and FCD\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Assist analysts, technicians and other members of management; provide support as necessary
  • Train and develop staff, ensuring training documentation is completed in timely manner
  • Organize and direct staff and workflow within the group(s) to ensure samples are processed and reported according to due dates and client needs
  • Participate in and provide support during internal and external audits
  • Initiate Non Systemic Corrective Action Reports and Corrective Action Reports; investigate and resolve based on root cause analysis
  • Streamline LOB processes and procedures, ensure consistency and maximize efficiencies while maintaining a focus on quality, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Perform validation of routine production for release to client
  • Develop and maintain a positive work environment for employees
  • Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy
  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
  • Participate, when requested in lab and health and safety meetings
  • Participate, when requested in internal and external audits
  • Keep work area clean, neat and organized
  • Provide general lab support
  • Maintain training records and relevant qualifications
  • All other responsibilities as assigned



You are the ideal candidate if you are/have:

  • B.Sc., technical diploma or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience in laboratory environment and LC instrumentation, experience with Food as a matrix is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 both written and verbal
  • Able to assess problems and recommend solutions
  • Positive outlook with a ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Good time-management, organizational, communication and priority setting skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented & good record keeping skills
  • Ability to accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP\xe2\x80\x99s) and instructions
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Excellent up to date knowledge of laboratory process and automation
  • Good team building, training, and coaching skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills
