The Position 
 Scientific Communications and Medical Information Specialist

 As the Scientific Communications and Medical Information (SCMI) Specialist you will be able to bring your scientific expertise and passion to a team that is delivering on the external needs in how our science is translated and interpreted in a relevant way for patient impact. 
The Opportunity: 
 In your role you will tailor the response and communication to match with the needs of the requestor, predominantly, health care professionals, the public and Roche personnel, also you will be responsible for assisting with the processing of unsolicited medical/scientific information requests on Roche products. 
 The SCMI Specialist collaborates with the Medical Strategy team to produce high-quality scientific and educational materials for external audiences, adapting global content to meet local regulations. Key duties include assisting in the creation of publication summaries, patient materials, and compassionate use documents; supporting development of scientific content for medical symposia and Canadian conferences; summarizing competitor evidence; reviewing and approving external scientific content; assisting with medical grants and sponsorships; contributing to local conference activities; and preparing HTA clinical sections for reimbursement dossiers. 
 Providing responses to healthcare professionals requesting medical/scientific information on Roche products following specifics queries. 
 Identifying, collecting and reporting any AE and/or other reportable event and forward to patient safety within timelines described in relevant SOPs. 
 Identifying and reporting any product quality complaints and forwards to the local quality management team within timelines described in relevant SOPs. 
 Accountable for the creation and distribution of external Product Announcements surrounding product updates according to local policies and procedures. 
 Provide support for training for the business, commercial, medical department and other roles in the Affiliate on medical information processes to ensure compliant and high quality customer service. 
 Working collaboratively with Medical Strategy and as required, assisting with researching and drafting content for medical education and scientific communication materials 
 Working with the relevant internal stakeholders (eg. medical, compliance, commercial) to ensure the training materials are crafted, maintained and tailored as needed for all employees involved in the planning and execution of Medical Education 
Who you are: 
 You hold a Bachelor degree in a Science Based Program (PhD, MSc, MD, PharmD, Biomedical, allied Health) and/or 1 year of proven experience in life sciences or health care system sector. 
 You demonstrate an understanding of the pharma and health care system environment and the ability to work in a fast-paced and highly targeted market dynamic. 
 You have experience in the principles and techniques of critical data analysis, statistical analysis, interpretation and evaluation of clinical relevance for the purposes of understanding and communicating scientific concepts and study results. 
 You have excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to connect with impact and influence 
 You are a systems & enterprise thinker with strong negotiating skills 
 You have the ability to work in a highly collaborative and networked environment and are recognized for your service-oriented and customer/patient-oriented skills. 
 You are a quick learner with a desire to understand the healthcare industry 
Preferred: 
 You possess familiarity of regulations and processes (eg. GCP, PV, Industry Codes & Regulations) and foundational knowledge of the development of assets (drugs, devices, etc.) 
 You demonstrate clinical/therapeutic knowledge of disease areas and knowledge of a range of innovative healthcare solutions (e.g. digital health, DIA, genetics, personalized vaccines, biotechnology) 
 You are familiar with the concept of evidence generation (eg. clinical trials, real world evidence) 
 You demonstrate understanding of the reimbursement environment and health care policy in a health technology assessment environment.
