School Wellness Worker
St. Thomas More School, Fairview, Alberta
HFCRD is recruiting a Full-time School Wellness Worker starting January 5, 2026 - June 26, 2026, with the possibility of extension, at St. Thomas More School in Fairview
The ideal candidate will:
Education/Degree: A related post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences
Experience in mental health or health/human services-related role
Committed to leadership in Christ-centered educational values and beliefs.
Committed to excellence, highly organized, strives for continuous improvement, has effective communication skills, and is a strong team player.
Responsibilities and areas of support:
Provide support and resources to enhance social and emotional learning in the school community.
Serve as a resource person to school administration and learning teams in the development and implementation of educational programs.
Meet with parents, students, teachers, and administrators to determine the needs of a student or a group of students with a view to improving educational program delivery.
Provide consultation and problem-solving strategies at student team meetings.
Implement preventative, research-based school and community social/emotional learning programs such as Roots of Empathy and Zones of Regulation.
Collaborate with staff and students to identify students with ongoing or escalating risks.
Provide effective and timely direct services to individual students and small groups with social, personal, or educational difficulties;
Provide early intervention and support for student achievement and student wellbeing where difficulties have the potential to escalate and affect school success.
Crisis support or conflict resolution needs
Liaise with schools and families to facilitate increased positive contact, communication, and understanding of individual students' needs and circumstances
Participate and contribute to relevant Ad Hoc Committees sponsored by the Division.
Be aware of trends (ie: self-harm, and suicide and develop an appropriate plan to address needs).
Assist teachers in taking a proactive approach to classroom wellness and behavior through the development of appropriate learning experiences.
Oversee programs, services, and activities related to school-based school wellness.
Participate in meetings and work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop strategies to address behaviors and, as required to develop Individualized Program Plans.
Providing short-term or time-limited direct treatment services for children, as determined by the school principal.
Attend and participate in the divisional meetings and initiatives, provide parent and or staff workshops as needed.
Inform staff of relevant community-based services and initiatives
Compensation:
Salary dependent qualifications and years of experience - starting $48,000.
