Job Summary


We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Scheduling Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will manage appointment scheduling, coordinate patient flow, and support medical administrative functions across various clinical settings. This role requires proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, strong communication skills, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding. The Scheduling Coordinator will play a vital role in ensuring efficient clinic operations while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguarding patient information.

Responsibilities



Manage and coordinate patient appointments using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, and Eaglesoft. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures to ensure accurate billing and scheduling. Review medical documentation including care plans, CPT codes, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and ICD coding to support billing processes. Assist patients with appointment scheduling via multi-line phone systems, front desk interactions, and online portals. Maintain accurate medical records by updating patient information and ensuring proper documentation review. Support medical billing processes through data entry, coding accuracy, and documentation management. Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards by safeguarding protected health information (PHI) during all interactions. Coordinate with clinical staff to optimize patient flow and clinic efficiency. Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies related to scheduling functions. Provide excellent patient service by demonstrating professional phone etiquette and clerical support at the front desk.

Skills



Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and hospital information management software. Familiarity with medical terminology across various specialties such as dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management. Experience in medical billing, insurance verification, intake procedures, and documentation review within clinical settings. Bilingual abilities are preferred to assist diverse patient populations effectively. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing (10 key typing). Prior clinic or medical office experience with a focus on scheduling or administrative support is highly desirable. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of patient information. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.92-$29.24 per hour
