We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Scheduling Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will manage appointment scheduling, coordinate patient flow, and support clinical operations with efficiency and professionalism. This role requires strong familiarity with medical office procedures, EMR systems, and excellent communication skills to ensure seamless patient experiences and accurate documentation.
Responsibilities
Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and Dentrix.
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification processes prior to appointments.
Manage patient intake processes, including data entry, documentation review, and updating medical records.
Coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily schedules and ensure efficient clinic operations.
Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing excellent patient service and appointment confirmations.
Maintain accurate documentation of scheduling activities and update care plans as necessary.
Assist with front desk duties such as filing, managing medical records, and handling patient inquiries.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of all health information.
Support billing processes related to CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures when needed.
Utilize computer skills in Microsoft Office and health information management software to streamline administrative workflows.
Skills
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and insurance verification processes.
Experience with medical billing, documentation review, and health information management.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules efficiently.
Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills for patient service and office support roles.
Bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse patient populations.
Familiarity with dental terminology and dental office management is desirable for dental clinic settings.
Computer literacy including typing (10-key typing), Microsoft Office Suite, and multi-line phone systems.
