Job Summary

We are seeking a experienced head sawyer/ edger operator to join our manufacturing team in Squamish. The primary sawyer role, is focusing on large log breakdown into a band mill and other related equipment, producing timbers, cants and side cut. This role requires is a cross trained roll with edger, as two hour shift rotation occurs ( training on edger to be provided). The Saw Operator plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality, optimizing recovery, and maintaining safety standards within the manufacturing environment. Experience with WRC will be a asset.

Duties

Able to read and interpret cut list, log scanner to make proper cutting decisions load logs onto carriage using log turner, positioning log, feed into band mill. Breakdown of log into required cutting specs. Able to cut for grade/ clears/ and recovery. Maintain safety protocols when operating carriage/ band mill Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery to minimize downtime Document production activities and report any issues or discrepancies promptly

Requirements

Proven experience operating band mill/ carriage. Background in sawmill operations Attention to detail and safety awareness are crucial Have a good working knowledge of grade and lumber manufacturing Experience with edger operation preferred but not required Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Able to do additional duties if required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
