Sanitation Team Leader

Job Description

As a sanitation team leader, you will be leading a fast-paced sanitation team engaged in cleaning of the bakery manufacturing plant with CFIA-approved chemicals and regulatory guidelines.

You will work as a night shift worker for a 10-hour shift for four days a week, with an opportunity to learn and grow your career.

REQUIREMENTS:



Have previous experience in leading a sanitation team in a food manufacturing plant. Bakery experience is preferred Are comfortable working with sanitation chemicals and cleaning agents. (WHIMIS) Have attention to detail and are comfortable working with a team with diverse backgrounds. Can communicate in English (verbal and written) Well-versed with GMPs, SSOPs, HAACP, OHS and other quality and safety programs in food processing environments. Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekend work Must be authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities:



This role involves hands-on cleaning, leadership responsibilities, and supporting continuous improvement in sanitation processes across the facility.

Must be able to prioritize/analyze problems and help to make decisions regarding sanitation requirements and employee behavior.

Must be able to train fellow associates regarding the relief position.

Assist management in proactively identifying problems and providing solutions Recognize and report any signs of equipment tampering. Maintain cleanliness, equipment, and work areas must be kept organized, clean, and sanitary throughout the shift. End of the shift requires the removal of any waste and garbage generated during the shift.

Ensure proper care of equipment when cleaning.

Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and personnel. Report any injury or accidents immediately to the supervisor and/or any unsafe condition.

Support and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, and preventative maintenance programs. Responsible for making sure all tasks performed by the sanitation team are performed safely, efficiently, and accurately.

Monitor the preparation and use of cleaning chemicals.

Responsible for facilitating the cleaning of equipment used in the preparation, mixing, and finishing product. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, mixers, depositor, conveyors, packaging, etc.

Visually inspect equipment for wear and tear. Visually inspect equipment for cleanliness. Responds positively with a sense of urgency while meeting proper sanitation standards. Works in a safe, clean and responsible manner. Follow all sanitation procedures and work instructions. Perform daily inspections and record information as required in the Post ops check sheet.

Train employees on SSOPs. Assist the Food Safety Manager in designing the SSOPs.

Enforce and monitor the current company's GMP, SSOP, FIFO and HACCP guidelines.

Follow through with corrective actions. Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and personnel. Report any injury or accident immediately. Support positive employee relations, fair treatment, and respect in all aspects of interaction with employees. Support use of materials / cleaning chemicals in proper rotation (FIFO - should follow first in, first out or FEFO first expiry, first out) and proper lot tracking. Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the sanitation supervisor promptly. Other duties as assigned

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.



Manual dexterity and utilization of both hands and all fingers are required. The employee is frequently required to bend and stoop. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25kgs and lift and/or move more than 25kgs with the aid of a co-worker. The employee must push/pull equipment, manual or automated pallet jacks, climb a ladder and use other equipment. Frequent flexing, extending, and turning of the neck and head are required.
