Reporting to the Sanitation Supervisor, this role is a hands-on working leader responsible for running CIP's and cleaning equipment and plant infrastructure in compliance with health and safety and, food safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Assign daily sanitation cleaning according to MSS and production schedule
Oversee daily chemical preparation for cleaning all stations.
Perform basic inspection on equipment and ensure equipment is properly protected prior to starting the cleaning.
Oversee the cleaning and sanitization of equipment, surfaces, utensils, and plant environment by providing direction, motivation, and technical support to all sanitation employees to ensure sanitation process is completed effectively and on time.
Ensure that all general safety and chemical safety procedures are being followed by all associates throughout the entire shift.
Periodic start up and shut down of boilers, air compressors and centralized sanitizer system.
Assist with implementing Sanitation Cross Training Plan.
Perform minor trouble shooting of the CIP system and other cleaning systems/equipment as needed.
Ensure that all critical parameters (Flow, temperature, conductivity, and time) are met for each circuit on the CIP systems.
Set associate schedules in the absence of the Sanitation Supervisor.
Fill in occasionally on any station in the absence of a sanitation associate
Provide training to new sanitation associates and act as a subject matter expert for all sanitation associates
Manage storage and distribution of sanitation tools
Assist with chemical titration, ATP swabbing and preparing shift reports when required.
Ensure proper corrective actions are taken in the event of a failed pre-op or as directed by QA and/or Sanitation Supervisor.
Promote Company purpose-driven, values-led culture by regularly communicating with and listening to associates.
Relay pertinent information to Sanitation Supervisor on daily basis.
Understand, comply with, and support the enforcement of compliance with safety procedures and General Manufacturing Practices
Act as back up to Supervisor when needed
Qualifications
High school diploma, required
Proficiency in English, reading and writing
3 years experience in food plant sanitation (CIP experience preferred)
Experience cleaning multiple types of packaging equipment
Experience training and coaching other associates
Basic knowledge of plant operations and mechanical equipment.
Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Excel, Word
Passion for driving results and engaging a team
Work Environment
Must wear Safety and GMP related personal protective equipment while on the plant floor: Hearing protection, protective clothing respiratory equipment and steel toe shoes, safety glasses, company uniform Hair net, beard/moustache net (if applicable)
Noise-heavy environment, personal hearing protection can be provided upon request
Must be adaptable to occasionally varying shifts but keep to steady nights.
Wet environment; atmosphere ranges from cool to warm and humid
Standing and walking for long period of time
Frequently bending, crouching, twisting, kneeling, and crawling while cleaning and sanitizing equipment
Maneuvering heavy objects, including frequently lifting (floor to waist, waist to shoulders, and overhead) and carrying up to 25kg and pushing and pulling of equipment (up to 1500kg) on wheels
Exposure to job related hazards, including but not limited to heavy objects, chemicals, hot water, climbing ladders and stairs, heights, and slippery floors
Problem Solving/Decision Making
Troubleshooting minor mechanical issues on CIP and production lines
* Decide when it's appropriate to escalate a problem to the Sanitation Supervisor, Maintenance team or Quality team
