DESCRIPTION:


Nautilus is looking to fill a vacancy for a

Sample Receipt/Shipper/Receiver

in our accredited Ecotoxicology Laboratory. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager (or designate), the Sample Receipt/Shipper/Receiver will be responsible for the day-to-day sample receipt, shipping and receiving functions of the laboratory. As an important contributing member of the team, you will be trained in all aspects of this multifaceted role, including sample receiving and login, safe handling of chemicals and ecotoxicological samples, and coordination of shipping activities. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for, or participate in:

Adhering to the Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures Receiving, inspecting, and logging sample submissions into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Ensuring appropriate documentation for samples is complete and accurate. Identifying discrepancies or issues with sample submissions and working with Project Managers to resolve them. Coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments of supplies, chemicals, organisms, and equipment Communicating with couriers, shipping companies, and internal team members Performing basic laboratory test preparation as required Assist with glassware cleaning as required. Assisting with sample disposal, sample storage, and inventory management Maintaining organization and cleanliness of the shipping/supply and laboratory areas Supporting and maintaining a safe workplace environment by following Health & Safety practices

QUALIFICATIONS:



This position will be of interest to those with a college diploma with a focus in science. Previous experience of 1-2 years in LIMS, sample receipt, shipping/receiving, inventory, or logistics is considered an asset.

As a well-organized and conscientious worker, you demonstrate strong computer skills, including data entry and basic math. Strong organizational, time management skills, along with a high attention to detail, are essential for success in this role. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and communicating effectively. Reliability and willingness to work in a team environment are key attributes.

As an essential member of our team, you are available to work fixed hours i.e., 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM, Monday- Friday. In addition, you are willing to learn safe handling procedures for chemicals and ecotoxicological samples.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

As a Shipper/Receiver, there is a physical component to this position that will involve standing and/or sitting for a prolonged period of time (2-4 hours), plus the ability to lift 15-20 kgs ( 30-45 lbs) as needed.
