SY & CO. International Trading Corp. dba LJ Building Supply is a fast-growing building materials supplier based in Richmond, BC. We specialize in providing high-quality flooring, fencing, decking, washroom products, and other construction materials to contractors, developers, builders, and retail customers. As our business continues to expand, we are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Sales Representative to join our team.
Position Overview
The Sales Representative will be responsible for driving sales growth, building customer relationships, and promoting SY's building material products. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong product knowledge (or a willingness to learn), and the ability to deliver professional service to both new and existing clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Customer Service
Identify new business opportunities and develop relationships with contractors, builders, renovation companies, and walk-in customers.
Introduce and promote SY's product lines, including flooring, decking, fencing, and washroom materials.
Provide accurate product information, pricing quotes, and recommendations based on customer needs.
Follow up on leads, respond to inquiries, and ensure high-quality customer service at all times.
2. Order Handling & Coordination
Prepare sales orders, invoices, and quotations in coordination with the office team.
Work closely with the warehouse team to schedule pick-ups or deliveries.
Track customer orders and ensure timely fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
3. Market & Product Knowledge
Maintain up-to-date understanding of building materials, industry trends, and competitor products.
Participate in product training sessions to improve product knowledge and sales skills.
4. Relationship Management
Build long-term relationships with repeat customers and key accounts.
Visit job sites or customer locations when needed to develop business (if doing Outside Sales).
Qualifications
Required
1-3 years of sales experience (building materials, hardware, renovation, home improvement, or related industries preferred).
Driver's license (Class 5) for site visits or client meetings.
Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Customer-oriented mindset with a proactive and positive attitude.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Basic computer skills (email, Excel, CRM, invoicing systems).
Fluent in English; Mandarin/Cantonese is an asset given our customer base.
Preferred
Knowledge of flooring, fencing, decking, or general construction materials.
Experience working with contractors or B2B clients.
