Reporting to the Founders, the Sales and Key Accounts Manager will be responsible for managing our sales team to drive distribution and revenue growth for our cider products throughout both Alberta and other markets. They will manage their own (smaller) territory and provide key accounts leadership for either on-premise or retail channels, or for the right candidate, both.
The successful candidate will mentor and manage our small but growing team, fostering positive relationships with customers and colleagues throughout Alberta. They will ideally have a background in on-premise key accounts, however strong retail experience will be an asset and an area for future development. This role is a hybrid hands-on and management position, with expected three days per week in trade and flexible working hours.
Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy and Planning:
? Provide input into sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market expansion.
? Manage, recruit and develop our sales team as performance allows.
? Map key accounts in both on-premise and retail, and develop targeted plans for each banner and hospitality group.
? Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential areas for growth.
? Collaborate with operations and marketing to align sales efforts with business objectives.
? Provide recommendations and support for the implementation of a new CRM. Provide input to the founders on improving existing in-house BI and reporting tools.
2. Customer Relationship Management:
? Support the founders in managing key account relationships for retail banners.
? Develop targeted sales plans for hospitality groups and key on-premise accounts.
? Lead and prioritize territory management among the sales team, including allocating accounts, priorities and objectives for achieving new accounts and points of distribution.
? Manage activity and conversion performance of territory managers. Coach and mentor territory managers on areas of improvement.
? Manage a smaller territory of 100-150 accounts, focused on greater Calgary.
? Lead trade marketing efforts at accounts, including point-of-sale material, in store promotional efforts, tastings and support.
? Provide excellent customer service and address inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely manner.
? Update and maintain customer records in CRM and Production systems.
? Represent Uncommon Cider at festivals and promotional events across the province.
? Provide training to the front of house and market teams on cider products, ensuring they are well-equipped to communicate product features and benefits to customers.
3. Product Knowledge and Education:
? Stay current on industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions.
? Be a brand ambassador for Uncommon Cider and help to build enthusiasm and passion for our products.
4. Budget Management:
? Collaborate with management to develop and manage the sales labor and promotional budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve maximum ROI.
? Monitor promotional expenses and financial performance, making adjustments as needed to meet financial goals.
5. Reporting
:
? Share weekly and monthly summary reports and plans with Leadership to ensure success in achieving sales revenue and volume targets and objectives.
? Attend weekly sales meetings and quarterly management strategy meetings.
Expected hours of work:
? Full time 44 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
? Flexible hours as dictated by customer needs and candidate preference.
? Some weekend work is anticipated for events, with time off in lieu.
Our ideal candidate would have:
? Proven sales management experience; 5 years+ in beverage, 2+ years as a manager.
? A background in key accounts, preferably on-premise.
? A drive for mentoring and developing junior sales professionals.
? Passion to learn about cider and a keen understanding of the craft alcohol market.
? Excellent communication skills, and the ability to make quick decisions and solve problems for customers.
? CRM and BI experience, both setting up and optimizing reporting for useful sales insights.
? Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
? Experience using Microsoft office (Excel and Word), Canva and/or Creative suite.
? ProServe, a clean driving abstract and the ability to travel throughout Alberta.
Compensation range:
? $60,000 - $80,000 annual salary, minus applicable deductions.
? Up to 30% performance bonus for achieving annual sales goals.
? Up to 4 weeks paid vacation per year.
