Northern Airports and Marine Operations (NAMO) acts as the lifeline for remote communities in Northern Manitoba, allowing the transportation of medical patients and essential supplies such as food and medication. NAMO provides transportation services to the communities through a highly skilled workforce that adheres to regulatory standards to ensure safety and uniformity with provincial and federal regulations.
Duties:
Reporting to the Safety and Risk Control Manager, the incumbent is responsible to co-ordinate and deliver training services related to MIT's Occupational Safety, Health and Risk Management (OSHRM) and Operator Training Programs to the staff at NAMO work sites. The incumbent will provide the training necessary to ensure that NAMO meets the requirements set out in its Safety and Training programs.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Experience providing training on Occupational Safety, Health and Risk Management Training and Operator Training.
Strong verbal communication skills including experience delivering presentations and learning facilitation.
Strong written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills ability to maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.
Strong decision making skills.
Thorough knowledge of and experience teaching and training adult learners especially as it relates to a northern Aboriginal workforce.
Strong organizational skills.
Experience communicating, documenting, and updating work priorities using a computer.
Experience maintaining confidential information and documentation, and adhering to Freedom of Information and Personal Privacy Act (FIPPA) policies and procedures.
Desired: Experience working with northern and remote work sites; especially dealing with issues specific to Aboriginal employees and understanding of Aboriginal communities and culture.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba 5F driver's licence with the ability to upgrade to a class 3 licence with air brake endorsement within 6 months of hire (with training provided).
Must have Operator certification on core light and heavy duty equipment.
Must possess a Transportation Dangerous Goods Instructor's Certification and Industrial Audiometric Technician Certificate or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Must be able to travel within the province by ground, water, or air transportation and stay overnight in remote work sites within the province for extended periods of time.
Successful completion Radio Operator Certificate.
Successful completion of a Train the Trainer program.
Success completion of the departments Equipment Operator Training program.
