Job Description

The Safety & Skills Development Coordinator plays a vital role in promoting and maintaining a strong organizational culture of health, safety, wellness, and continuous learning. This position is responsible for supporting workplace injury prevention and return-to-work initiatives through effective documentation and program management as well as overseeing employee training records, coordinating and scheduling training sessions, and generating reports for internal and external stakeholders. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the coordinator also ensures compliance with safety regulations and contributes to the organization's overall commitment to quality, safety, and employee development.

This position is open to applicants in either Calgary, AB or White City, SK.



Responsibilities



Develop and maintain document control and record-keeping systems for all training-related materials, and health, safety, environment and quality documents Support internal audits by providing required documentation and administrative support Monitor and maintain the safety and injury prevention program by tracking incidents and absences; collaborate with leadership to implement risk reduction strategies. Maintain Good Catch program documentation and incentive process. Ensure ongoing compliance with legal, regulatory, and client-specific health and safety requirements. Maintain and update ISNetworld and other client platforms to ensure alignment with customer compliance standards. Manage monthly safety meeting presentations and Health & Safety Bulletins and Alerts Perform monthly financial processing of information for HSEQ (timesheets, Visa statements, training invoices, etc.) Conduct risk assessments in collaboration with operations and provide recommendations for mitigation. Maintain and regularly update the organization's training matrix Assist in the onboarding processes, including new hire orientations Schedule apprentice-related training sessions and school attendance. Maintain accurate apprentice records and coordinate regular progress meetings. Assist with apprenticeship program funding or reimbursement (e.g., ECAO/ECA support). Track hours worked by apprentices and assist with Payroll Change Notices as required.

Qualifications and Requirements



Postsecondary education, or equivalent work experience is required Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Coordinator/Administrator Minimum one (1) year of experience related to environmental, health and safety and/or in training and development Previous experience with COR, IS0 9001, and ISO 45001 standards in Alberta, Ontario or Saskatchewan Certification in Occupational Health & Safety is preferred Certification in auditing of ISO and COR standards is preferred Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is required Ability to interpret regulations and apply them practically in the workplace Experience coordinating with external trainers, clients and certifying bodies Ability to analyze trends in safety incidents or training compliance and make recommendations High level of professionalism with ability to effectively establish working relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders Team-oriented with a proactive, solution-focused approach Occasional travel may be required across Western Canada to support business needs
