Tri City Canada Inc. is a General Contractor that specializes in "Project Management". Our home base is in Kamloops, British Columbia. Though Tri City does have work projects that take place all over British Columbia, and in the past have had jobs in other provinces across Canada. Our specialties include but are not limited to land development, land use redevelopment, construction management and green building projects.

As each new challenge and project presents itself, a unique team of professionals is assembled. We believe that construction is a team effort involving ownership, the design team, and construction team with an experienced and qualified project manager. Our Safety Officers are a very important part of the team and help in delivering Tri City Canada Inc's Health and Safety Program at the site level. Working closely with the site Superintendent and the companies HSE Manager on a day to day basis, you will ensure all aspects of site safety are implemented and ensure employees and contractors remain in compliance with relevant safety legislation.

We are currently seeking a Safety Officer/ First Aid Attendant for our "Canary Lofts" project in Kamloops B.C. to start immediately.



Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Support the project superintendent on-site throughout the construction phase, and work with the HSE Manager on a regular basis to ensure effective implementation of the Tri City Canada Inc. Health and Safety Program.

Deal with all first aid responsibilities on the worksite, including keeping up to date first aid records and maintaining compliance with first aid regulations.

Promote a culture of job site safety, where safety is everyone's responsibility.

Regularly monitor health, safety & environment compliance of workers and sub-contractors.

Conduct site specific orientations for all new site workers and visitors.

Facilitate and participate in site inspections and implement corrective action as required.

Keep updated site safety plans as the project evolves, conduct onsite hazard assessments, assists in incident investigations and risk assessments, as required.

Ensure that every incident, injury and property damage are reported to all appropriate parties.

Collect and review subtrades documentation for accuracy and provide feedback to personnel.

Conduct health, safety & environment meetings, and toolbox talks.

Create and implement Safe Job Procedures for work tasks being conducted on site.

Maintain and prepare thorough documentation and reports. Have an appropriate filing system.

Keep the HSE team management updated on issues that arise.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:



Ability to perform in all weather conditions is required. Worker may be standing or walking for long periods of time. Periods of high physical exertion may come into play when either taking part in the construction or laboring processes. This may include but is not limited to bending, twisting, heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), repetitive motion, and climbing ladders. With the administrative portion of this job, there may be some periods of sitting and typing/and or writing.

Work Conditions:



This position is based on a standard 40-hour work week, with possibility of overtime if needed by onsite personnel.

Qualifications:



Demonstrated, progressive experience in a Safety Officer role is an asset.

1-3 years' experience preferred.

NCSO certification/designation or other applicable safety experience is considered an asset.

Workers require training of the BCCSA Leadership for Safety Excellence course.

A registered 8-hour Joint health and Safety Committee training course is considered an asset.

Advanced Occupational First Aid ticket (Or OFA Level 3) is a requirement for this position.



Trade background in carpentry preferred. Other trades are considered an asset.

Good knowledge of WorkSafeBC Regulations, Policies, Guidelines, and Standards.

Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures to ensure that health, safety, and environment standards are being met on site.

Demonstrated ability to keep detailed and accurate Health and Safety Program records. Including completion of assigned safety documentation and tasks.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to influence others in matters of Tri City's Health and Safety Program.

Adaptable to situations and have the ability to use good judgment and manage the unexpected.

Worker must have the ability to get to and from site and be punctual.

Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with construction related software and platforms is considered an asset.

Must maintain a valid class 5 driver's license.
