Cambie Roofing is a large and busy company, locally owned and operated for over 70 years. Our yard and offices are located near SE Marine Drive and Knight Street in Vancouver, and we are looking for an experienced Site Safety Officer to join our great team and to manage safety on our jobs and sites.
You must currently live in the Lower Mainland and hold full BC CSO certification to APPLY
As a founding member of the RCABC, we stick to the highest standards and manage crews of over 150 during peak season. We specialize in the installation of numerous styles of roof applications and coatings. Additionally, we provide extensive roof repairs and maintenance on both residential and commercial properties.
Cambie operates across the lower mainland with several large job sites running simultaneously for a good portion of the year.

The Safety Officer will be responsible for training staff on company safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative safety measures on our job sites.
As a Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, sub-contractors, and visitors.
You are very organized, and excellent communicator verbal and written and are okay working at heights, safely of course.
Your expertise will help us promote a culture of workplace safety compliance, providing training and support within the organization. You will maintain all required records in Site-docs, and conduct team and individual safety training, including first aid, fall protection, foreman training and hearing tests, with further detail below.
Responsibilities
Job Site Safety Monitoring:
Travel to various job sites across the lower mainland to monitor compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Conduct scheduled and impromptu safety audits, identifying hazards, and executing corrective action.
Maintain knowledge of current safety regulations and communicate recommended updates to management and employees.
Manage all communications and reporting with WorkSafeBC.
Train foreman on how to communicate with WorkSafeBC when they come on-site
Deal with WSBC officers
Documentation Management in Site Docs:
Compile and report accurate and timely safety records, including incident reports, daily equipment inspections, weekly toolbox talks, and periodic safety audits.
Prepare safety-related reports and documentation as needed.
Assist with the implementation of safety manuals, policies, and procedures.
Safety Training and Education:
Implement job or project-specific safety training as needed.
Assist in the routine maintenance of training records and certifications.
Help monitor training compliance and track training completion.
Equipment and safety training and testing.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, and corrective actions taken.
Analyze incident data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
Safety Compliance and Documentation:
Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with RCABC and other regulatory agencies.
Maintain safety-related documentation, including safety manuals, policies, and procedures.
Assist with implementing and maintaining site-specific safety signs and visual aids.
Safety Culture Promotion:
Foster a culture of safety and promote safety awareness throughout the organization.
Engage employees at all levels to actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
Organize and participate in safety committees, meetings, and initiatives.
Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees regarding safety best practices.
Fire Extinguisher testing.
Additional Responsibilities:
Handle additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Take courses including Train-the-trainer and on-going Construction Safety Officer.
Manage Cambie's Safety Committee.
Requirements
Strong English skills, oral and written.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial roofing or construction, preferably one or more years of safety officer or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including RCABC CSO (required).
Professional certification in safety (e.g., CSO) is preferred.
Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Team player attitude is a must.
Ability to influence and drive a culture of safety.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Site Docs experience would be beneficial but not required.
Ability to climb a 40-foot ladder and lift heavy objects.
Valid BC driver's license and clean driving record.
Additional Skills you may have or wish to acquire:
The ability to train in areas such as Fall Protection etc.
Level 3 First Aid
Cambie will pay for this type of training and on-going education.

What Cambie Offers You
$65,000 to $80,000 per year based on experience
