What will you be doing!



Preparing high quality technical document which receive a high level of scrutiny. Acting as a technical reviewer for safety analysis documents. Following the program and associated CNSC regulations in preparing the documentation. Providing guidance to Facility Authority/Projects with regards to safety and licensing requirements. Reviewing technical drawings/documents with a focus on impact to safety. Preparing documentation to support projects/changes including planning, safety analysis and guidance. Ensuring documents prepared are in compliance with the program. Supporting developing program documentation though document preparation, self-assessments, etc. Being involved with REGDOC, CSA, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ICRP and other agency updates that involve safety analysis. Engaging with projects/facilities to identify hazards. Leading hazard analysis meetings and documenting the outcomes. Using various tools to estimate the potential doses from events to workers, on-site and public. Using various tools to estimate frequency of events to classify likelihood of occurrence. Modelling short term and long term releases from facilities. Verifying other analysts calculations. Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:



Education + At minimum, a Bachelors (Honours) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
Experience + Significant scientific work experience in order to be regarded as a specialist. Preference for experience specifically related to safety analysis or in the nuclear field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Fully developed knowledge of two or more of the following areas and a basic understanding of the remainder:
- Design engineering process.
- Technical writing and problem solving.
- Hazard assessment techniques including HAZOP, FMEA, What-If, etc.
- Deterministic safety analysis methods.
- Experience with mathematics to support Radiation Dose calculation, airborne release modelling, ground release modelling, etc.
+ Knowledge of Regulatory framework governing Canadian nuclear industry.
+ Knowledge of Safety requirements for nuclear facilities.
+ Knowledge of Nuclear facility operations.
+ Knowledge of Decommissioning.
+ Knowledge of Radiological protection.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required + Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a

minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom

This role requires that the majority of time worked be at CNL's Chalk River Laboratory site while also providing opportunities to work remotely, where possible, if desired by the employee.
