The Safety Advisor will report to the project manager for all project related concerns and when not available will report to the 24/7 OEMS Chief Operations Officer. The position is also responsive to the 24/7 OEMS General Manger as well as Trans Mountain and Prime Contractor leadership as required to support the project(s). The majority of the Safety Advisor's time will be spent in the field at various locations throughout the project site. Travel between works sites will be required with the use of a company supplied vehicle or, infrequently a rental unit..RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities of the Safety Advisor include, but are not limited to: Evaluate the implementation of 24/7 OEMS safety policies / procedures. Assist with COR implementation and maintenance. Monitor work activities of employees / contractors ensuring safe work practices are in place and followed and identifying risk and non-compliance issues. Provide in-field supervision of 24/7 OEMS and contractor personnel. Create and submit reports of activities and findings to project clients and 24/7 OEMS management. Audit and confirm compliance of field service ticket completion / submissions. Provide non-conformance reports to 24/7 OEMS management as required, following up on issues identified for resolution. Review employee / contractors Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) or equivalents for accuracy and effectiveness. Audit employee / contractors required vehicle / equipment checklist for completion and accuracy. Liaise with clients to ensure compliance with project requirements. Participate in site safety meetings/toolbox meetings. Coordinate and oversee Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings. Perform specific inspections upon request of 24/7 OEMS management. Participate in stakeholder review as required for project specific programs. Monitor the implementation of corrective actions from health and safety audits and perform incident investigations in accordance with 24/7 OEMS, and client policies. Demonstrate leadership, proactively participating in all safety related forums and programs. Contribute to and promote a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work ethic amongst 24/7 OEMS employees and contractors to assist in providing a safe and incident free workplace. Perform other duties as required by 24/7 OEMS management.LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS Current NCSO designation. The Safety Advisor will be required to keep updated on all regulatory and legislated changes that may affect the project.QUALIFICATIONS Experience in developing and delivering training material -Computer based training experience an asset. Minimum 1 year OH&S experience in the Industrial Construction/Heavy Civil industry A diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or OHS Certificate combined with a Trades background would be beneficial for the position.
