Job Description


This is a contract position for a Applications Architect - Intermediate for our public sector client.
Work location: 222 Jarvis St
Duration: Eight Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)Advantages

Applied to both the process and the outcome of thinking out and specifying the overall structure, logical components, and the logical interrelationships of a computer, its operating system, a network, or other conception. Defines the structure and relationship among applications, including the identification of re-usable components, quality level metrics, the organization and layering of software, and the determination of interfaces. Responsibilities also include developing, implementing and managing at least one cross-platform application in a large and distributed environment, monitor the whole system, understand all interactions between components on a given level of abstraction, as well as to define limitations and requirements for source code. Defines the interactions between application packages, databases and middleware systems.General Skills:
Experience in the development and implementation of application architectures at the specified experience level Extensive experience with at least two different computing platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, programming languages and communication protocols Experience with middleware and gateways. Knowledge of performance considerations in different environments Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of applications Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments Experience in the use of development tools, Computer Aided Software Engineering ( C A S E ) tools, information retrieval packages, and other software tools such as project management software and business re-engineering software Experience in the use of data and process modelling methodologies, techniques and tools, including a working knowledge of metadata structures, repository functions, and data dictionaries. Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. models) Awareness of emerging I&IT trends and directions. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills. Senior I&IT Architect
Description
SPDP is leading the assessment of cluster business and technology capabilities for our enterprise solutions for purposes of strategic investments, reduced/avoided duplication and improved alignment across technology stacks.This effort will support the GovTechON Target State Architecture initiative, which uses a whole-of-government approach to developing an enterprise framework/standard for technology and data architecture.This work will allow GSIC to:
\xc2\xb7 Define common, consistent descriptions of GSIC technology/business capabilities.
\xc2\xb7 Promote GSIC enterprise services to the broad OPS I&IT committees and our ministries clients.
\xc2\xb7 Communicate GSIC business/technology capabilities to GovTechON Target State Architecture Working Group.The FFS resource will work with the GSIC Enterprise Architecture Services Team and collaborate across Practices, as required. The Sr. I&IT Architect will:
\xc2\xb7 Support assessments of architecture of enterprises solutions.
\xc2\xb7 Lead design and implementation of capabilities workshops across Practices.
\xc2\xb7 Lead in defining technology capabilities for the GSIC enterprise solutions.
\xc2\xb7 Align the GSIC technology capabilities.
\xc2\xb7 Compile a list of potential business capabilities, leveraging GSIC enterprise product information and existing capability reference models.
\xc2\xb7 Validate the candidate capabilities with the enterprise service SMEs.
\xc2\xb7 Add capabilities to the GSIC Enterprise Products spreadsheet.
\xc2\xb7 Create cross-map the enterprise products with the business capabilities.
\xc2\xb7 Create GSIC Business Capability Map and create a graphical view of the business capabilities provided by the GSIC enterprise services.There will be the required knowledge transfer to the EA team to help ensure knowledge retention in the cluster.Summary
