Job Description

This is a contract position for a Business Analyst for our client who is in the Broader Public Sector. Work location will be North York and will involve a Hybrid Model with a number of days in the office a week at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.

The Contract runs for 5 months with some possibility of renewal when it runs out.

Hours per day will be 7.25

Responsibilities

  • perform system analysis, design, testing and implementation of applications and ensure they comply with strategy and standards.
  • provide systems analysis and design expertise in the development and maintenance of the Ministry application systems
  • analyze user requirements, generation of prototypes for user consultation and the design, testing, documentation, implementation and maintenance of applications
  • coordinate analyses, develops, and implements solutions for complex problems
  • consult with clients on the changes/modifications, recommend and develop training plans, and monitor operational performance
  • plan application development activities, provide direction, guidance and technical support to programming staff and train junior team members
Qualifications
  • knowledge of rules-based engines based in COTS applications like Curam
  • knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle Methodologies, familiarity with ITIL Processes for Change/Release Management, use of object oriented and/or 3GL development tools, relational and hierarchical data base technologies, use of information retrieval packages using SQL and other query languages, one or more telecommunications protocols
  • You can gather information, clarify needs and desired system changes, explain system development recommendations, explain and provide instruction on new/modified systems and technology
  • knowledge of front end, web-based technologies and data-mining/reporting-based COTS tools encompassing feasibility studies, requirements definition, analysis, prototyping, system design, implementation, testing and maintenance
