Current Opportunity
Robotics & Mechanical Design Instructor (Internship-to-Hire Pathway)
This role begins with a one-month, part-time paid internship serving as an assessment and knowledge-sharing phase. Candidates who excel will be offered a permanent instructor position at Maple Mind Academy.
This pathway ensures alignment in both technical proficiency and teaching capability, while allowing candidates to immerse themselves in our culture and methodology.
Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery - Teach robotics and mechanical engineering concepts to students (K-12) with structured, engaging lessons.
Prototyping and Design - Guide students in developing mechanical systems using CNC machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
CAD Modelling - Design and prototype robotics components using SolidWorks (primary) and Fusion360 (secondary).
Robotics and Electronics - Support projects involving servo motors, microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and sensors.
Mentorship and Student Engagement - Foster creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience in students.
Team Collaboration - Work closely with instructors, curriculum developers, and coordinators.
Leadership in Learning Environments - Manage classroom dynamics, ensure safety, and promote inclusion.
Required Hard Skills
SolidWorks Proficiency - Ability to design assemblies and robotics systems.
CAD Tools - Familiarity with Fusion360 or similar platforms is an asset.
Prototyping Expertise - Hands-on experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting.
Materials Knowledge - Experience with HDPE, plywood, acrylic, PLA, ABS, and metals.
Electronics Fundamentals - Understanding of servo motors, microcontrollers, sensors, and basic wiring.
Project-Based Engineering - Experience in design ? build ? test ? iterate cycles.
Competition Readiness - Experience with RoboCup, VEX, FIRST Robotics, or FIRA is highly valued but not mandatory.

Qualifications and Experience
Pursuing or holding a degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
Strong portfolio of CAD and prototyping projects.
Experience with youth engagement (teaching, tutoring, coaching, volunteering).
Robotics competition or hands-on engineering project experience is a strong asset.
Ability to balance technical rigor with creativity and engagement.
Internship Period (Assessment Phase)
Duration: One month, part-time (12-18 hrs/week).
Focus: Observation, mentorship shadowing, initial classroom teaching.
Outcome: Successful candidates will receive a permanent role offer.
