Job Description


I am currently assisting one of our clients specializing in North American transportation operations. Located in the heart of downtown Montreal, this company is in search of a Director of Road Transportation.Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Road Transportation is responsible for overseeing the company\'s road operations in North America, including all movements to and from the Montreal port terminal. They will also be in charge of 3PL operations.The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:Supervise the staff of the dispatch department.
Ensure compliance of carriers and transporters with applicable transportation regulations.
Ensure the delivery of quality and efficient service to both external and internal customers.
Identify process improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
Maximize profitability for each shipment.
Control operating costs and negotiate/approve additional costs.
Develop and implement cutting-edge processes and systems for safe and efficient service and cost management.
Optimize human and material resources at all times.
Manage oversized road movements and special projects when required.
Work closely with the 3PL department.
Maintain close relationships with all departments.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures in alignment with systems; monitor established procedures in the AS-400 system and ensure data adequacy.
