RISK ROTATIONAL GRADUATE ANALYST (JOB NUMBER: GRAD-051823-003-SOS)

The position at a glance As a Graduate, you will acquire in-depth insight into BNP Paribas and gain valuable and practical experience. Throughout the first two years of the Training Program, you will:

The RISK Rotational Analyst Graduate Program is approximately 24 months in duration, in which the resource will be trained and provide support to various RISK teams The role will be located in Montreal, where BNPP RISK has created a Shared-Service platform with the mandate to deliver high-quality services to the RISK teams in Americas and globally.
In detail Integrated into a group-wide RISK function, RISK Americas covers the 2nd largest regional BNPP platform worldwide. The Americas RISK function covers BNPP wholesale activities in the Americas, encompassing more than 400 professionals in the region (LatAm, Canada, San Francisco, New York and New Jersey) and its main mission is to protect the bank. With presence across the Americas to cover the various BNPP Americas activities, the teams are highly collaborative, as well as very integrated with the Group RISK function and with stakeholders from multiple business lines and functions. The RISK Montreal Hub constitutes the latest addition of Shared Services Platforms developed for the RISK Function. It covers added-value activities around Operational Risk, Credit Risk, Model Development and Validation, Strategic Analysis, Reporting and Market Risk. RISK Mission Statements:
  • To advise the Bank?s Management on risk appetite definition
  • To contribute as an objective ?second pair of eyes? that risks taken on by the Bank align with its policies
  • To report and alert Bank?s Management of the status of risks to which the Bank is exposed
  • To contribute to the development and growth of the risk culture within the Group

With business-dedicated risk teams and more transversal risk practices, RISK Americas cover all types of risks, RISK?s main responsibilities are:
  • Credit and counterparty risk, market risk, funding and liquidity risk, as well as interest rate and FX risk of the Banking book, insurance risk and operational risk.
  • RISK covers all Group?s activities and geographies.
  • Provide a holistic view of the risk profile to the Bank?s Management and Board, by coordinating with the relevant Functions to ensure relevant risk assessment, aggregation, and reporting

Scope of the RISK Montreal Hub:
  • RISK Montreal Hub is a transversal platform for the RISK Function covering added-value activities from Monitoring of risks, to Models development and validation, Governance and Data Science across a wide range of underlying risks: Credit Risk, Market Risk, Counterparty, Operational Risk and Cyber Risk. It consists of but not limited to the following teams:
  • RISK Systems: provides a fully integrated market and counterparty risk management system, combining flexibility with industrial reliability, operating at the heart of the bank?s risk management framework, helping to protect shareholder value and the integrity of investment banking activities. The responsibilities of RISK System Montreal is to support RISK Systems applications. This includes providing technical and functional support to Americas, ensuring the IT resolution of the issues raised by the users in due time and ensuring daily computation of all risk metrics across asset classes.
  • RISK Independent Review & Control (?RISK IRC?): supports model risk management by providing independent reviews and controls for a wide range of models used in the region, as well as model governance.
  • RISK Global Markets (?RISK GM?): provides Senior Management of the Group, of the RISK Function and of Global Markets with full transparency and dynamic analysis with respect to the market, counterparty, valuation and liquidity risks originated and managed by CIB GM, in order to assist them in their risk decision making.
  • RISK Consulting: supports RISK in its strategic projects and its transformation efforts.
  • Operational Risk Management (?RISK ORM?): contributes, in close proximity with Business Lines and Functions, to the continuous improvement of the Group?s operational performance and resilience. More specifically, the mission of RISK ORM is to oversee the effective and efficient functioning of the permanent control framework and the independent risk management of operational and ICT risks.
  • Enterprise Risk Management (?RISK ERM?): with both RISK ERA GSA in charge of i) strategic risk analysis at portfolio level, including preparation of risk information, ii) Group Risk Appetite Statement maintenance and iii) Data management to provide reliable and innovative tools to support these activities, and RISK ERA Models who is responsible for building mathematical models which allow users to measure and compare credit risks in a clear and actionable way. It includes the regulatory models (PD, LGD and EAD) and also models supporting various accounting standards to determine the capital requirements for the majority of the Bank?s activities including stress testing.
