As a Vice President on the Corporate Client Banking Canada Credit team you will be responsible for the analysis and approval of credit requests for mid-to-large cap Commercial Banking clients in a variety of industries. You will partner closely with coverage bankers and loan syndications to conduct due diligence, develop appropriate structures for credit facilities, and negotiate credit agreements and other legal documentation. Transactions include traditional corporate lending, capital markets executions, M&A Financing, LBOs, Direct Lending, and other traditional bank product offerings. You will also be responsible for on-going monitoring of a portfolio of clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a premier Risk organization!

As part of the Corporate Client Banking Canada Credit Team you will manage some of the most complex credit clients at JPMorgan.

Job responsibilities

  • Identify the key risk factors associated with clients, industries, and transactions in order to develop and articulate a dynamic, forward-looking risk assessment
  • Recommend and approve appropriate credit structures relative to risk assessment and policy considerations
  • Prepare credit approval materials, ensure all credit risk policies are followed, and present and recommend transactions for approval to senior leadership
  • Review and negotiate legal documentation and coordinate with counsel to ensure terms are appropriate and consistent with both credit approval and credit appetite
  • Ensure risk ratings are accurate and reflect a current forward-looking view of the client Including the early identification and proactive management of deteriorating credits and other problem situations
  • Analyze, prepare, and present for approval all required waivers, amendments, and extensions
  • Work with bank examiners and internal credit reviewers to validate credit quality and integrity of the credit process, and comply with regulatory and policy requirements
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Superior credit, corporate finance, negotiation, loan documentation, and financial modeling skills
  • Strong, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills with ability to edit and prepare executive level communications
  • Effective deal team management
  • Independently productive; able to operate at a highly effective level with minimal day-to-day managerial direction
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of corporate or investment banking lending experience including extensive credit, structuring, and marketing.
  • BA/BS degree is required, MBA and/or CFA is a plus
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Completion of a major corporate or investment bank credit training program, or equivalent experience, and a thorough understanding of bank credit policies and procedures.
  • Experience with sponsor/private equity, LBO, M&A transactions is a plus.
