The Westville & Area Planning and Recreation Commission (Arena Commission) oversees the management of a 1 ice surface facility in Westville, Nova Scotia. Typical operations go from late September until early April. The facility is mainly used for hockey operations, public rentals, and other user groups.

Arena Attendant
Westville, Nova Scotia
Under the general supervision of the Arena Manager, the Rink Attendant will be responsible for several duties, keeping customer and public experience front of mind.
Qualifications, Duties & Application Process:
General Duties (include but not limited to):
Be available to open and close the facility and remain onsite during hours of operation.
Typical work week is 40 hours +/-.
Will be responsible for the daily supervision of the facility. Must ensure public safety and always maintaining rule and order within the facility.
Ability to operate ice making equipment such as a Zamboni and other ice maintenance equipment. This includes general maintenance including changing propane cylinders, changing and aligning blades, oil changes, etc. (
Will Train)
General knowledge of skills such as carpentry, painting, snow removal, and maintenance.
Ability to work at heights and use small hand tools.
General cleaning duties, including washrooms, public areas, dressing rooms, benches. This will require cleaning bodily fluids such as vomit.
Must be able to deal with the public.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have functional knowledge of hockey arenas and should have solid knowledge of ice making and maintenance including use of ice making equipment such as Zamboni & edging equipment.
The candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, and able to deal with a diverse public.
Must pass a criminal records check as well as vulnerable sector search.
Must have a valid driver's licence and provide drivers abstract.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to deal with the public.
Although not required the following would be considered an asset:
Valid Basic First Aid
Intro to WHMIS
Valid Nova Scotia Fall Protection
Scaffold Training
