From group exercise to individualized personal training; from healthy living activities to physical assessments preparing for specific work environments; from recreational sports to elite sport training; and a range of ethnic and cultural dance, Campus & Community Recreation has the breadth and depth of activities to enhance the experiences of students, staff and community members alike.Campus & Community Recreation has three facilities on the University of Alberta South Campus - Saville Community Sports Centre (East and West), Foote Field and the Saville Tennis Centre. Foote Field features competition level artificial turf, track, and grass field, as well as a multi-use plaza, conference room, and lounge space. East facilities feature a curling rink (10 sheets) , tennis courts (8 courts), fitness centre, bar and lounge, sport performance centre, and various multi-purpose spaces. West facilities feature nine gymnasiums, a competition gym, gymnastics centre, fitness studio, classrooms and food, and beverage services. The sport and recreation facilities on south campus experience over 3.4 million visits per year.PositionThe RFO Supervisor, East/Foote Field provides leadership and supervision to the Recreation Facility Operations South Campus team within Campus & Community at the University of Alberta. The Supervisor participates in the development and activation of the Campus & Community Recreation overarching goals and assists team members in understanding the linkage between their day-to-day activities and the overarching goals of the organization. The Supervisor is an active participant in the CCR Leadership Group, all supervisory staff within CCR, contributing ideas, collaborating with colleagues and initiating discussions to improve the delivery of service to CCR clients.Specifically, the Supervisor leads a team of 9 direct reports (2 RFO II and 7 RFO I positions) and approximately 3-5 casual staff indirect reports. The Recreation Facility Operations South Campus team is responsible for the 18-hour a day, 7 day a week day-to-day operation of recreation facilities on south campus including Saville Community Sports Centre East, Foote Field including artificial turf, track, Outdoor Tennis Centre and Dome management. The team supports the technical operation of a variety of specialized facilities including a 10-sheet curling rink, 8-court indoor tennis centre, artificial turf field, premier natural grass field, east natural grass field, 400m track, outdoor tennis centre and multi-purpose spaces such as classrooms, meeting rooms and studios. The Recreation Facility Operations South Campus team ensures the daily operational requirements are professional, effective and efficient. The Supervisor works closely with staff members to ensure the exemplary delivery of client-focused service.Duties

  • Leads and delivers client focused customer service; anticipates client needs and proactively addresses concerns.
  • Develops, reviews and revises processes and services to create efficiencies; where processes affect other operational areas, recommends revised processes to the Senior Manager.
  • Oversees staff schedules and assignment of duties to ensure effective oversight of facility operations during all operating hours.
  • Develops administrative tools to support effective monitoring of facility and equipment conditions and training tools.
  • Develops, implements and coordinates procedures to complete all facility maintenance activities for south campus sport and recreation facilities.
  • Event Support
  • Assist in the development of event logistics, participate as required in any pre-event meetings to support the development of an operationally viable event.
  • Liaise with event organizers.
  • Oversee the process of event setup/takedown/follow up to ensure an exemplary client-focused experience.
  • Leads team in conducting regular Job Hazard Assessments and recording safe work practices.
  • Monitors reporting associated with incidents occurring in sport and recreation facilities and programs.
  • Develops and administers annual plans for sport and recreation specialized facility and equipment preventative maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sport Management or Sport Facility Management.
  • Post Secondary education in Supervisory and Foremanship or equivalent education or experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility operations, with demonstrated growth in responsibility, accountability, and staff supervision.
  • High calibre curling ice making skills.
  • Capable of operating all ice, turf and field equipment.
  • Current Intermediate First Aid and Level xe2x80x9cCxe2x80x9d CPR certification required.
  • Police Information Check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge in Health, Safety, and Risk Management in sport and recreation facilities & programs.
  • Knowledge of Asset Planner is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Building Access Control systems is an asset.
  • Experience with Intelligenz Recreation Management Software, Google Apps and Microsoft Office is an asset.
