be part of a small team responsible for the timely and accurate application of customer payments and refunds for all Nova Scotia Power rate classes including Residential, Commercial, and Industrial.
Specific accountabilities may include but is not limited to:
Performing payment functions such as: recording and reconciling payments, data entry, and additional tasks within the payment function
Receive, organize and process mailed payments received by NS Power
Investigating and resolving individual payment concerns and requests
Providing payment subject matter support to internal and external customers
Communicating and working with staff in other departments such as Customer Care, Accounts Payable, Finance, and various other departments as needed.
Troubleshooting any issues that may arise
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
During major power outages you will be required to assist the Customer Care Centre by providing customer phone support during and after hours.

You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:
Minimum of Grade XII education or equivalent
Related experience in an accounts receivable or financial institution environment
Related experience supporting customer information and payment systems is considered an asset, with preference given to candidates having experience with NSPI's Customer Information System (CIS)
Competency using MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, SharePoint
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate issues
Work effectively as part of a small team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Ability to problem solve, make decisions and/or recommendations
Organized and detail oriented with the ability to adapt to change
Good judgment, initiative, confidentiality, work ethic, and the ability to meet deadlines are of prime importance
