The Retail Sales Effectiveness Manager is responsible for driving performance and productivity improvements across the retail banking sales network. This role focuses on developing and implementing sales strategies, tools, processes, and training programs that enhance the capability of sales teams to meet revenue targets and deliver superior member experiences.
The role reports to the Director Retail Operations and Sales Effectiveness, identifying sales gaps as well as recommending sales activities to close these gaps.
The Retail Sales Effectiveness Manager in partnership with Retail Management, and other member facing departments, works to support, promote, and enable a high performing sales and service culture through coaching and development. This role will partner with management to determine needs and develop solutions that will engage and develop talent leading to the achievement of Alterna's business and financial goals.
This role tracks and reports regularly on branch sales results and activities related to the Sales Effectiveness Playbook, outlining activities and areas for improvement as well as areas of success. The role highlights and shares best practices and successes to replicate successes across all teams. The role partners with retail leadership and the Director of Retail Operations and Sales Effectiveness to create and implement recognition programs to support achievements by leaders and their teams.
Major Responsibilities
Sales Strategy Execution:
Collaborate with senior leadership to implement strategic sales initiatives that align with business goals and market conditions.
Performance Analytics & Reporting:
Generate and reports, on a regular basis on retail sales and branch rankings status related to achievement of PA goals. Provide actionable insights to sales leaders to optimize team performance.
Sales Process Optimization:
Develop and refine end-to-end sales processes, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Coaching & Capability Building:
Partner with HR/OD to design and deliver targeted training, coaching programs, and toolkits to enhance frontline staff's selling skills, product knowledge, and customer engagement techniques.
Onboarding and Sales Training:
Partner with HR/OD to deliver PEERS and Sales Effectiveness onboarding programs quarterly to new hires and refreshers when required.
Incentive Program Management:
Partner with Regional Leaders and Treasury to develop and manage performance-based incentive programs s that motivate sales teams and drive results.
Technology & Tools Enablement:
Support the implementation and adoption of CRM systems, sales tracking tools, and digital platforms that enhance sales force productivity.
Engagement:
Work closely with branch managers, regional sales heads, product teams, and compliance to ensure alignment and execution of sales effectiveness initiatives
Expectations / Outcomes
Growing our productivity within the sales teams through sales and service program development.
Increased member/client confidence and loyalty through the level of value-added service and advice provided through culture initiatives.
Increased member retention / acquisition by ensuring service quality is achieved through coaching, training, and performance management.
Mitigation of costs / impacts associated with branch errors by ensuring proper training and service recovery techniques are in place
Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Experience
Post-Secondary education in a related discipline, ideally at the College/University level, typically in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Economics, Accounting or Finance.
7 years of direct successful sales experience
4 years of sales coaching at all levels, preferable in an FI
Branch Management experience.
Successful track record of coaching to a sales effectiveness conversation model for results
Successful track record of coaching to close gaps in a sales environment
Successful track record of supporting teams through cultural change and/or transitioning to a sales culture
Coaching Certification an asset
