The Role



The General Manager is the single point of accountability for all day-to-day operations at the Yaletown flagship location. This is our highest-profile location, and the GM is entrusted to run it

from A to Z

, The GM leads both FOH and BOH teams, ensures seamless collaboration between departments, and delivers an exceptional guest experience at every visit.

The GM operates with support from the owners in administration, mentorship, and strategic direction, and lead independently, proactively solving problems and driving growth.

Specific Responsibilities:



MANAGING AND GROWING THE RESTAURANT TEAM

Manages, inspires and develops the Nero team by setting a tone of mutual respect and high expectations; following through on obligations and setting accountability. Ensures that Team Members' skills and knowledge are always known to be excellent and implements or improves whatever system is required in order to achieve this standard. Manages onboarding and training for all positions. Continually reviews, evaluates and updates the training process as necessary in order to ensure that new hires and existing team members are trained to the highest standard.
ENSURING AN OUTSTANDING GUEST EXPERIENCE

Creates a sense of welcoming hospitality for all guests at all times. Manages all guest communication on all platforms including guest reviews. Utilizes guest feedback to ensure continual improvement of the guest experience.
UPHOLDING EXCELLENCE IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE STANDARDS

Ensures food and beverage ingredient and menu item quality are to the highest standard. Follows recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and to minimize food costs. Provides input to the creation of new menu items. Accurately conducts stock checks, inventory, and manages the ordering and receiving system of all goods into Restaurant.
MANAGING THE BUSINESS

Ensures the employee schedules are written to align with set labour cost goals. Works to control costs and create efficiencies in management of the Restaurant. Regularly prepares and analyses Restaurant sales reports in order to track key performance measures. Regularly develops and implements programs to increase Restaurant sales.
HEALTH & SAFETY

Exemplifies and upholds Company Policies and Procedures, WCB Health and Safety regulations and BC Employment Standards at all times. This includes upholding and enforcing Nero's policy of zero-tolerance for bullying and harassment between any employees and those who work with Nero. Maintains employee confidentiality at all times.
MANAGING THE FACILITY (CLEANLINESS AND MAINTENANCE)

Oversees the proper preventative and regular cleaning of all equipment in the Restaurant. Ensures all Restaurant Team Members are adhering to Food Safety and Sanitation plans. Ensures safety plans are accurate and updates when necessary.

Skills Required



Excellent verbal, reading and writing skills (English). Ability to clearly write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, guests, and employees. Ability to accurately prepare timely information and reporting to demonstrate Restaurant performance.

Credentials and/or Experience Requirements



Food Safe Level 1 Experience in a supervisory role in a fast-paced, high volume environment. Experience in using POS Systems, Inventory Management Systems, Employee Scheduling Systems, MS Office Suite (or equivalent). Minimum of a post-secondary diploma or certificate.
