Respite Caregivers for Children & Youth with Developmental Disabilities



The REACH Respite Program has openings for experienced respite caregivers to provide hourly and potentially overnight care in and out of the caregiver's own home. This is a contractor position, perfect for those seeking casual/part-time work.

Opportunities:



Case 1) Active, talkative male teen with ASD who loves playing basketball, movies, mini golf, bowling, and he's a bit of a thrill seeker (maybe you're looking forward to riding the roller coaster at Playland this summer too!). He really likes to be out in the community (Surrey) with someone like minded who enjoys talking and hanging out with him. The family is seeking hourly care on weekends and sometimes during the week, out in the community. The teen is looking for a fun buddy to spend time with; is that you?

Case 2) A creative/artsy indigenous 12-year-old female with ASD who absolutely LOVES animals and is a huge Harry Potter fan. She enjoys going to the movies, bowling, skating and visiting places like the aquarium and the zoo. Her family is currently seeking hourly care in the community (they live in the Cloverdale area) with a fun, energetic and patient caregiver who has an artistic and crafty side. Maybe you are the animal loving wizard she's looking for!

Successful candidates will:



Have a minimum of 3 years working with individuals with developmental disabilities, a post-secondary certificate in human services or related field, 1 year+ working with individuals who have challenging behaviors or a combination of training and experience. have a passion for working with the special need's community be creative and come up with original ideas to keep the child or youth engaged and entertained be able to work independently and follow a child/youth's care plan in providing support have access to a vehicle and a clean driving record be required to complete a screening process

As a REACH respite caregiver, you'll:



build relationships provide a youth with the opportunity to participate in activities and learn new things have a flexible schedule learn new skills from trainings offered earn $25 per hr having fun!
Preference will be given to individuals with experience and knowledge of indigenous culture.

REACH Child and Youth Development Society has been providing services to children and their families since 1959. We promote optimal development and well-being for all children, youth, and adults, where all individuals flourish. We work together with families to recognize each child's strengths and develop their abilities. Over 1000 children and their families benefit from our services on an annual basis.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
