Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Respiratory Therapist utilizes strong assessment and organizational skills to identify client goals and unmet needs, provide appropriate interventions, and follow up utilizing internal and external resources to provide client-centered care in a variety of home/clinic settings. In collaboration with the client, the Respiratory Therapist develops and maintains the care plan to ensure services are provided based on the client’s response to interventions.
Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will assess patients, develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans, and monitor their progress. This role requires you to collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments. You will be responsible for providing training and assisting health care providers in the use and care of various respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. Required Qualifications:
Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to work in different environments within the community (single-family homes, lodges, walk-up apartments, etc.) and lift and carry professional bags/equipment weighing up to approximately 25-30 lbs. Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Graduate from a registered Respiratory Therapy school and have passed the National Respiratory Certification Exam administered by the College and Association of Respiratory Therapy of Alberta (CARTA) or the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT). Proven communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a community care setting or Home Care. Knowledge of Meditech is an asset. Knowledge of the Radioactive Iodine (RAI) is an asset.
