Position Summary


The Resource Development Coordinator (RDC) supports the development, implementation, and growth of fundraising, marketing, and community engagement initiatives for the Nanaimo Child Development Centre. This role plays a key part in stewarding donor relationships, building community awareness, and strengthening the organizations' long-term sustainability through fundraised revenue.


The Resource Development Coordinator contributes to strategic fundraising efforts, social medical and communication initiatives, and supports the early groundwork for future major campaigns, including long-term capital campaign(s) and legacy funding.


Duties and Responsibilities


Financial

Follow financial tracking protocols for fundraising activities Ensure accurate collection, documentation and reconciliation of all fundraised dollars.

Fundraising Development

Research, write and support the distribution of direct mail fundraising campaigns. Assist in preparing, drafting and submitting grant proposals. Support planning and execution of fundraising events, including signature, community and third-party events. Research and coordinate of service club engagement and employee giving programs, planned giving opportunities and community partnership initiatives. Contribute to fundraising strategy development, including multi-year goals and early preparation for future capital campaign planning.

Donor Relations and Stewardship

Support the implementation of donor recognition programs, ensuring timely stewardship aligned with organizational standards. Participate in cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, community groups, and stakeholders by providing warm, consistent communication and follow-up.

Volunteer Development

Recruit, orient, train, and coordinate volunteers supporting fundraising and resource development activities. Assist in maintaining and improving volunteer management guidelines and processes.

Record Keeping:

Develop and maintain accurate donor, volunteer and fundraising databases in accordance with best practices and privacy standards. Maintain up to date, organized records and assist with monthly departmental reporting.

Publicity and Promotion:

Coordinate and develop press release production and distribution as required. Coordinate public speaking engagements for the Executive Director and volunteers as required. Coordinate research, writing and production of print materials related to fundraising and marketing campaigns. Develop and coordinate correspondence for fundraising and marketing strategies as required. Develop, coordinate and maintain Social Media sites.

Other Responsibilities:

Adhere to ethical standards outlined by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Comply with rules and regulations governing charitable donations and/or fundraising and marketing and communication as outlined in BC Societies Act, BC Gaming Commission, Canada Revenue Agency, Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA), Canada's Anti-Span Legislation (CASL) and other relevant fundraising or communication regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

3 years' experience in the non-profit sector working in fundraising or marketing. Certificates in fundraising, volunteer management and marketing from a recognized fundraising institution OR equivalent combination of experience and education. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent time management skills. Ability to supervise and support volunteers. Ability to develop and manage donor database. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Working knowledge of print production and desktop publishing. Criminal record check clearance. Physically capable of performing all aspects of the position. Valid First Aid/CPR and Food Safe certification as required. Computer Literacy


There is some flexibility in weekly schedule, however, you must be able to have flexibility to accommodate after hours/weekend events.
